From 28th July to 2nd August 2025, Vantage Hall hosted the Access USA Leadership & Public Presentation Workshop — an intensive, six-day program immersing students in practical leadership training, public speaking techniques, and collaborative project work. Students from Grades 9 to 12 participated, guided by Mr. Luke Losie (Alma College graduate and U.S. Fulbright scholar) and Mr. Xavier Tarvainen (Alma College student, History and Educational Studies).

Day 1 – What Makes a Leader? & Understanding Leadership Profiles

Explored leadership styles, personal strengths, and how personality shapes leadership. Learned adaptability and empathy through case studies.

Day 2 – The Communication Process for Effective Teamwork

Mastered persuasive communication, active listening, and non-verbal cues to reduce miscommunication and
build trust.

Day 3 – Self-Management and Stress Management Techniques

Focused on time management, discipline, and mindfulness practices for emotional regulation and stress relief.

Day 4 – Public Speaking Methodology

Learned to structure speeches, use vocal variety, engage audiences, and project confidence with live practice rounds.

Day 5 – Knowing Your Audience & Crafting Project Proposals

Gained skills in audience analysis, content adaptation, and delivering persuasive proposals through team projects.

Day 6 – Leadership Project Presentations and Written Submissions

 

Presented projects applying leadership, public speaking, and teamwork principles developed over the week.

 

Key Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, students had strengthened leadership styles, improved adaptability, and mastered clear communication. They developed effective time and stress management habits, gained confidence in public speaking, and learned to tailor their messages to diverse audiences. These skills prepare them not only for academic success but also for real-world challenges.
