A group of Grade 12 students from Vantage Hall Girls’ Residential School – Aayat Kaiser Kawosa, Mudita Bhandari, Niyati Gupta, and Riya B. Gharge – have launched ‘Ummeed’, an initiative dedicated to breaking the silence around menstruation and spreading awareness about women’s health, menstrual hygiene, and dignity.
Objectives of Ummeed:
- Educate young girls and women on safe hygiene practices during menstruation
- Replace myths and misconceptions with accurate scientific knowledge
- Encourage open conversations to reduce stigma and shame
- Promote affordable and sustainable menstrual care solutions
For their inaugural drive, the team conducted an awareness session for 40 women and girls, providing valuable knowledge on menstrual hygiene and sanitation. Participants also received kits containing cloth pads from Goonj, disposable pads from Janaushadi Kendra, castor oil, and paper soap, ensuring both care and sustainability.
The school proudly applauds the girls for leading this initiative and inspiring positive change in the community, empowering women and fostering a culture of health and dignity.
