On 15th August, our school came alive with colours of patriotism as we proudly celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India. The day began with students assembling in the Academic Block to extend a warm welcome to our esteemed Chief Guest, Major General Lalji Devindar Singh, our respected Principal, Ma’am Sharda, and Advisory Board Member, Ma’am Parmar.
The celebration opened with a soulful rendition of Vande Mataram, setting the tone for the day. This was followed by heartfelt poetry recitals in both Hindi and English, where students beautifully expressed their love for the nation. The junior students brought vibrancy to the stage with their graceful dance performance, while the senior students stirred emotions with a powerful poem that echoed deep patriotic pride.
Soon after, the Chief Guest, joined by school authorities and Grade XII students, led the procession to the football field for the much-awaited flag hoisting ceremony. As the tricolour unfurled against the sky and a shower of flower petals rained down, the entire school united in singing the National Anthem, voices rising in pride and reverence.
The formal segment of the program continued with inspiring words from the student leaders. Head Girl, Kamakshi Singh, delivered a moving speech in honour of the Motherland.
One of the most heartfelt moments followed, when Grade XII student Aaradhya Gupta presented her original Hindi poem “वीरों का संग्राम”. Her verses, filled with emotion and depth, paid homage to the courage, sacrifice, and indomitable spirit of India’s brave soldiers:
“वीरों का संग्राम”
मेरी आन है वो, मेरी बान है वो
मेरे देश की शान है वो।
कपड़े पर लगे हुए, कुछ रंगों के छींटे नहीं,
बल्कि हवा में लहराता गगन को चमूता
विजय ध्वज है वो।
मेरे भारत का तिरंगा है वो।
माटी में मिल जाते हैं, पर्वतों से लड़ जाते हैं
हवा को चीरते, अमर हो जाते हैं,
पर फिर भी, विजय ध्वज लहराते हैं।
परवाह नहीं करते अपने उस सुकून का जो मिलता है माँ की गोद में।
चिंता यही रहती कि किसी और माँ की गोद सूनी न पड़ जाए।
इसलिए अपनी भारत माँ का आलिंगन, खुशी–खुशी कर लेते हैं।
परवाह नहीं उन्हें, अपनी सूनी कलाई की
चिंता यही रहती, कि किसी बहन के भाई की कलाई
सूनी न रह जाए।
घोट देते हैं अक्सर अपनी खुशियों का गला
बस यादों में निहारते रहते अपनी नन्हीं सी गुड़िया का चेहरा।
कहीं किसी और को, अपनी नन्हीं सी जान
के दीदार के लिए, तरसना न पड़ जाए।
कई वीरांगनाएं कर देती हैं, अपनी माँग सूनी
कहीं किसी और की माँग, सूनी न रह जाए।
चिट्ठी न कोई संदेश आता, आता है तो आँखों में–
देश–प्रेम, और जोश से उमड़ती, ज्वाला का तेज़ आता।
अगर कुछ आता है तो;
यादों से भरा संदूक और तिरंगे में लिपटा उनका कफ़न आता।
अरे! मेरे वतन के लोगों,
जरा उन वीर जवानों की कीमत अपने आँसुओं से चुका कर तो देखो,
यह जुबां है इस वतन में रहने वाली एक बहन की,
एक–एक आँसू की कीमत अपने रक्त की आख़िरी
बूँद तक चुकाएँगे सरहद पर खड़े मेरे सभी भाई।

The poem left the audience deeply moved, after which Vice Head Girl, Dhanya Raju, delivered a graceful vote of thanks. The highlight of the morning was the insightful address by Major General Lal Singh Ji, whose words of wisdom left everyone inspired.
The event was not just a celebration, but a reminder of the sacrifices that earned us our freedom and the responsibility we hold as citizens of this great nation. Aaradhya’s poem, along with the spirited performances, added depth and meaning to the celebration.
It was truly a memorable day, honouring the spirit of unity, courage, and independence.
